A homeowner contacted us after dealing with a damp crawlspace that stayed humid most of the year, especially after heavy rains, and they wanted a dependable way to keep water and moisture under control. They’d noticed musty odors creeping into the living space and were worried about mold, wood rot, and the long-term impact on their floors and indoor air quality. After reading about how groundwater management and humidity control work together, they reached out to ask about adding a sump pump and a dehumidifier to create a drier, healthier crawlspace and protect the home moving forward.
To solve the moisture problem for good, we installed a complete crawlspace water-management and humidity-control system designed to keep the space dry in every season. First, we completed a full-perimeter drainage pipe installation to capture groundwater and direct it to a new sump pump basin. From there, we installed a reliable 1/3 HP sump pump and ran a dedicated discharge line to move water safely away from the foundation. To control humidity after the water is removed, we added a Sierra Watchdog NXT 85 Pint Dehumidifier to maintain healthy moisture levels and prevent musty odors and mold-friendly conditions. Finally, we completed the project with a custom-built PVC crawlspace door to improve the seal at the entry point, helping keep outside air and moisture from re-entering the crawlspace and supporting consistent, long-term performance of the system.
