A homeowner contacted us because she wanted to have her crawlspace closed off and professionally address an ongoing mold issue she’d discovered under the home. She explained that the crawlspace stayed damp much of the year and that musty odors were starting to make their way into the living space, especially during humid weather. After seeing visible mold on some of the wood and worrying about how it could impact her home’s structure and indoor air quality, she reached out to our team for an inspection and a clear plan to stop the moisture source, remediate the mold properly, and seal the crawlspace so the problem wouldn’t keep coming back.
To solve the mold and moisture problem for good, we combined remediation with full water and humidity control. We started by soda blasting the affected surfaces to remove mold and clean the wood properly, then installed a full-perimeter drainage pipe system to capture groundwater and direct it into a new sump pump basin. From there, we added a dependable 1/3 HP sump pump and ran a dedicated discharge line to move water safely away from the foundation. Once bulk water was controlled, we sealed the crawlspace with our Crawlspace Doctor Exclusive Encapsulation System to block ground moisture and outside air from feeding future mold growth. To keep conditions stable year-round, we installed a Sierra Watchdog NXT 120 dehumidifier, and finished with a custom-built PVC crawlspace door to create a tight, durable entry seal—leaving the crawlspace clean, dry, and protected moving forward.
