Job completed for High Crawlspace Humidity? Stop Moisture Before It Causes Serious Damage

The homeowner reached out to us after becoming concerned about persistently high humidity levels in their crawlspace. They had noticed a damp, musty environment that suggested excess moisture was building up beneath the home. Upon further discussion, it became clear that the crawlspace was experiencing an ongoing humidity problem, which can lead to issues such as mold growth, wood deterioration, and poor indoor air quality if left unaddressed. This prompted a thorough evaluation to identify the source of the moisture and determine the best course of action to restore a dry, healthy environment.

To resolve the excessive humidity issue, we implemented a complete moisture management system tailored to the crawlspace. We began by removing the existing insulation to eliminate any materials that may have been holding moisture. Next, we installed a full perimeter drainage pipe system to effectively collect and direct groundwater to a newly installed sump pump basin, equipped with a reliable 1/3 HP sump pump and a proper discharge line to carry water safely away from the home. To further control moisture, we sealed off the crawlspace vents and installed a 9 mil vapor barrier to reduce moisture intrusion from the ground and outside air. Additionally, we installed a Sierra Watchdog NXT 85-pint dehumidifier to regulate humidity levels and maintain a dry environment. Finally, we custom-built and installed a durable PVC crawlspace door to ensure the space remains properly sealed, providing long-term protection and improved air quality for the home.
