The homeowner contacted us after a recent inspection raised concerns about their existing crawlspace system, which had been encapsulated and equipped with sump pumps approximately six years ago. During that inspection, they were informed that one of the sump pumps was no longer functioning properly and that additional floor supports were needed. Wanting to ensure they received an accurate assessment and the best solution for their home, the homeowner reached out to us for a second opinion and a detailed quote. They were particularly interested in understanding the condition of their current system and what steps were necessary to restore proper function and structural support beneath their home.
To address the concerns, we implemented a comprehensive repair and reinforcement plan to restore both structural integrity and system performance in the crawlspace. We installed PowerPost floor supports along with a steel beam to properly stabilize and support the weakened areas of the floor system. To further strengthen the structure, we doubled (scabbed) the existing floor joists where needed, ensuring long-term durability and load support. We also replaced the HVAC register run to improve airflow and eliminate any damaged or inefficient ductwork. Finally, we installed a new 1/3 HP sump pump to replace the non-functioning unit, restoring proper water management and ensuring the crawlspace remains dry and protected.
