The homeowner reached out to us after discovering concerning issues in their crawlspace during an inspection. On the day of our assessment, there was moderate to heavy fungal growth on the wood framing system, which had been previously treated with a sealant by another contractor. However, the sealant had failed to remove or prevent further mold and fungus growth, leaving the homeowner with ongoing concerns about the structural integrity and health risks associated with the mold. The homeowner was seeking a more effective and long-term solution to address the root causes of the issue and prevent future growth, prompting them to seek our expertise.
To effectively address the issues in the crawlspace, we utilized soda blasting to thoroughly clean the entire wood framing system, successfully removing all mold and fungus and restoring the wood to its original condition. Next, we sealed and insulated the foundation walls to prevent further moisture intrusion and thermal bridging. The crawlspace was then encapsulated, creating a durable barrier against moisture and air leaks. To maintain optimal humidity levels and prevent future mold growth, a dehumidifier was installed, ensuring a dry and stable environment in the crawlspace. This multi-step approach not only resolved the existing issues but also provided a long-term solution to prevent future problems, giving the homeowner peace of mind and a healthier living space.
