Job completed for Humidity Control and Mold Treatment

Completion date: August 30, 2024

Location: Athens, AL

Why did the customer contact us?

A homeowner contacted us with concerns about potential moisture issues beneath their home. During our inspection, we found signs of high humidity in the crawl space, along with light to moderate fungal growth throughout the area—indicating persistent damp conditions. We also observed hydrostatic pressure affecting the exterior foundation walls, particularly in sections located beneath an open porch, which left them more vulnerable to water intrusion. Additionally, the crawl space contained substantial debris, which can trap moisture and block airflow, as well as a few low-lying areas that needed to be properly filled in to ensure a level, stable foundation and improve drainage

Solutions provided:

To begin the remediation process, we treated the crawl space with hydrogen peroxide to eliminate existing fungal growth and thoroughly sanitize all affected areas. Next, we removed all debris to improve airflow and prepare the space for encapsulation. We then installed a durable 15 Mil vapor barrier across the crawl space floor, creating a sealed moisture barrier to prevent future dampness and fungal growth. To control humidity long-term, we added a high-efficiency dehumidifier to maintain proper moisture levels in the space. Finally, we built a custom crawl space door to ensure a secure, airtight seal and complete the transformation into a clean, dry, and protected environment.
