A homeowner reached out to us with growing concerns about mold and excess moisture beneath their home. They had begun noticing musty odors and were worried about the potential impact on their family’s health and the structural integrity of their property. During our initial conversation, they expressed that their biggest concern was the presence of mold and the ongoing moisture issues that seemed to be worsening over time. They were looking for a long-term solution that would address both the immediate problem and prevent future damage.
To address the homeowner’s concerns, we began by applying a hydrogen peroxide treatment to eliminate mold and sanitize the affected areas. We then blocked all foundation vent openings and porch gaps using rigid foam board insulation to reduce outside air intrusion. A 9 Mil 100% reinforced white vapor barrier was installed over 100% of the soil and securely staked to the ground, creating a durable moisture barrier. As specified, the liner was not fastened to the foundation walls, and seams were left untaped, aligning with the system’s design. The installation comes backed by a 20-year transferrable warranty. To help regulate humidity long-term, we installed a high-efficiency dehumidifier. Finally, we built and installed a custom crawlspace door to ensure a secure and insulated entry point.
