A homeowner contacted us with concerns about persistent moisture in their crawlspace. During our inspection, we found standing water and clear signs of hydrostatic pressure, indicating that water was pushing up through the ground. The moisture content in the wood was high, ranging from 14% to 19%, which can compromise structural integrity over time. We also observed several framing misses.
To address the ongoing moisture issues, we began by installing a drain pipe system to help redirect groundwater and reduce hydrostatic pressure beneath the home. A sump pump basin and sump pump were then installed, along with a discharge line to carry water safely away from the foundation. To seal out moisture and improve air quality, we encapsulated the crawlspace with a durable vapor barrier, creating a controlled environment beneath the home. We also installed a high-performance dehumidifier to maintain consistent humidity levels and protect the wood framing. To complete the project, we custom-built and installed a new crawlspace door, ensuring a secure and weather-resistant access point.
