Why did the customer contact us?

A homeowner contacted us with concerns about persistent moisture and potential structural issues beneath their home. During our inspection, we found clear evidence of standing water and hydrostatic pressure in the crawlspace, indicating that groundwater was seeping in. The space also had an excessive humidity problem, creating an environment that could lead to further damage if left unaddressed. Additionally, the framing system showed signs of deterioration and included several framing misses, raising concerns about the home’s structural stability. These findings highlighted the need for immediate moisture control and structural reinforcement.

Solutions provided:

To resolve the extensive moisture and structural issues found in the crawlspace, we began by soda blasting the wood framing to remove fungal growth and sanitize the surfaces without compromising the integrity of the wood. We installed a full perimeter drain pipe system to manage groundwater and reduce hydrostatic pressure. For long-term moisture protection, we encapsulated the crawlspace and insulated the foundation walls to improve energy efficiency and climate control. Four sump pump systems were installed, each with its own basin and discharge line, to ensure effective water removal across all areas of the crawlspace. A high-capacity dehumidifier was added to maintain healthy humidity levels. To improve indoor air quality and system performance, we replaced the HVAC supply and return ductwork, along with all register runs. Structurally, we doubled floor joists for added strength, installed PowerPost floor supports to stabilize sagging areas, and added a steel beam to reinforce the load-bearing structure. PowerPost will be installed with top and bottom metal plates, that will be placed on poured concrete footing. The project was completed with the construction and installation of a custom crawlspace door to seal and secure the entry point.
