A homeowner contacted us seeking help with removing mold from the crawlspace of her home. She was concerned about the potential health risks and damage the mold could cause if left untreated. Her main goal was to eliminate the existing mold growth and prevent it from returning by addressing the underlying moisture issues contributing to the problem. She wanted a long-term solution that would ensure a clean, dry, and healthy environment beneath her home.
During the inspection, we discovered standing water and signs of hydrostatic pressure in the crawlspace, despite a previously installed water mitigation system by another contractor. The framing system showed light to moderate fungal growth, and moisture readings in the wood ranged from 24% to 28%—well above the safe threshold. To address these issues, we treated the affected areas with a hydrogen peroxide solution to kill and remove the fungal growth. We then fully encapsulated the crawlspace with a reinforced vapor barrier to seal out ground moisture and create a controlled environment. A high-efficiency dehumidifier was installed to maintain stable humidity levels and prevent future fungal development. To complete the project, we custom-built and installed a new crawlspace door to ensure a secure and sealed entry point, helping preserve the integrity of the newly conditioned space.
