A homeowner contacted us after becoming concerned about excess moisture beneath their home. During our inspection, we found clear signs of high humidity in the crawlspace, along with visible water intrusion coming through the foundation walls. These conditions had led to light to moderate fungal growth spreading throughout the space. The homeowner was seeking a long-term solution to eliminate the mold, stop the water intrusion, and protect their home from further moisture-related damage.
To address the moisture and fungal issues in the crawlspace, we began by blocking all vent openings and porch gaps with rigid foam board insulation to prevent outside humid air from entering the space. This step helped stabilize the internal environment and reduce condensation risks. Next, we installed a durable 23 mil vapor barrier across the crawlspace floor to seal out ground moisture and create a protective barrier. To maintain proper humidity levels and prevent future fungal growth, we added a high-efficiency dehumidifier, completing a system designed to keep the crawlspace dry, clean, and protected long-term.
