A homeowner reached out to us after discovering that their dryer vent had come loose under their crawl space. Concerned about the potential for moisture buildup, mold growth, or other hidden issues that could result from the warm, humid air venting into the enclosed space, they wanted to take proactive steps to ensure no damage had occurred. They were especially interested in preventing any long-term problems that might affect the air quality or structural integrity of their home. Seeking a professional inspection and solution, they contacted us for a thorough evaluation and proper repair.

Solutions provided:

To address the homeowner’s concerns and prevent any future issues caused by the loose dryer vent, we implemented a full crawlspace moisture control solution. We began by removing the compromised insulation, which had been affected by excess humidity. To manage water intrusion, we installed a full perimeter drainage pipe system leading to a sump pump basin, where we placed a reliable 1/3 HP sump pump to actively remove collected water. A discharge line was connected to ensure proper water flow away from the home. We then blocked unnecessary vents and installed a heavy-duty 15 mil vapor barrier to seal the crawlspace against ground moisture. For ongoing humidity control, we added a Sierra Watchdog NXT 85 Pint Dehumidifier. To complete the system, we custom-built a new, durable PVC crawlspace door for added protection and access. These upgrades gave the homeowner peace of mind, knowing their crawlspace was properly sealed, ventilated, and protected from future moisture-related issues.
