Job completed for “Crawlspace Flooded from Burst Pipes? See How This Homeowner Solved It for Good

Completion date: April 25, 2025

Location: Madison, AL

Why did the customer contact us?

The homeowner contacted us after experiencing a burst pipe in their home that had caused significant water intrusion. Although a plumber had already repaired the leak and another contractor had pumped out the standing water and sprayed a product for mildew, the homeowner was dissatisfied with the quality and thoroughness of the work performed. They were concerned about the potential for hidden moisture, lingering mold growth, and long-term damage to their home’s structure and indoor air quality. Wanting a more professional, comprehensive solution, they reached out to us based on a recommendation from their neighbor’s sister, who had previously used our services and trusted our expertise with water damage and crawlspace-related issues.

Solutions provided:

To provide a long-term solution and give the homeowner peace of mind, we focused on controlling both water intrusion and moisture in the crawlspace. We began by installing a dedicated sump pump basin to collect any groundwater or future leaks that might accumulate under the home. Inside the basin, we set a 1/3 HP sump pump and connected it to a properly sized discharge line, routing the water safely away from the foundation to prevent it from recycling back toward the house. To handle ongoing humidity and help prevent mold and mildew from returning, we installed a Sierra Watchdog NXT 85-pint dehumidifier, designed to automatically pull excess moisture from the air and maintain a healthier crawlspace environment. We also custom built a PVC crawlspace door, which is resistant to rot and warping, to help better seal and protect the area from outside air and pests. Finally, we replaced the affected HVAC register run that had been compromised by the water event, ensuring clean, dry air delivery to the living space above. Together, these steps not only addressed the immediate water damage concerns but also helped protect the home against future moisture and air quality issues.
